The Future Tenses

USES:1. We use the future simple with will to make predictions about the future.

There will be a train in the future.

There won’t be a train in the future.

Will there be a train in the future?

2. We use be going to for predictions about the future that we see evidence for in the present.

It is going to rain today. (The sky is gray.)

It isn’t going to rain today. (The sky is blue.)

Is it going to rain today? (We are not sure.)

Form of “be going to”

Affirmative Negative
