Before = something happens first.

After = something happens later.

Structure

Before + subject + verb, main sentence.

After + subject + verb, main sentence.

Remember: After before and after, use the present simple, not will.

X•I will eat before I will go.

✓•I will eat before I go.

Examples

Before

Before I go to school, I eat breakfast.

Before we play soccer, we do our homework.

Before it gets dark, we put up the tent.

After

After I finish my homework, I watch TV.

After we eat dinner, we wash the dishes.

After she arrives home, she calls her friend.
