Making a Classic Hot Dog
Hey everybody! I’m starving, but I only have the basics in the fridge. So we are going to make a proper hot dog?
First, let’s check the ingredients:
✅ Hot dog buns.
✅ Beef franks (the sausages).
✅ Condiments: Yellow mustard, ketchup, cheese and potato sticks.
✅ Optional: A little bit of diced onion.
That’s the «All-American» kit. Let’s get started with the process:
Boil or Grill: Since we’re in a hurry, let’s boil them. Fill a small pot with water and bring it to a boil. Drop the franks in for about 5 minutes until they are plump and hot.
Toast the Bun: While those cook, split your buns.
Take the frank out with tongs and tuck it into the warm bun.
Usually, you go with mustard first, then ketchup, and finish with the onions, cheese, and potato sticks on top.
Generally, you put the «wet» condiments like mustard on the sausage first so they don’t slide off.
That’s ok.
It looks delicious!
